Sunny Umpleby

Sunny joined B\VAL as an intern for the 2021 tax season where she practiced individual tax return preparation. After graduating from the University of Oregon and earning her Bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2022, she joined our team as a full-time Staff Accountant.

Sunny was born and raised in China and came to the United States in 2016. While attending school she ran an online store, which has helped her practice bookkeeping to help drive a profitable business.

Before coming to the United States, she graduated with a Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management degree and earned a customs broker license. She had 10 years of experience working as an international cargo transport operator managing local companies’ cargo inspection, declaration, and exporting. She also billed shipping fees and reconciled with clients and other branch offices, as well as payment of taxes to China customs.

In her spare time, Sunny enjoys exploring the local natural beauty and traveling with her family, as well as cooking and trying different cuisines. She also loves to collect Legos and nutcrackers.
